Programs and grouped work
How FarmFusion groups seasonal work so your team sees progress, blockers, and what happens next.
When your farm plans a season, many jobs belong to the same outcome. Programs group that work so you can see progress in one place without losing individual assignments.
What is a Program?
A Program is a larger seasonal or operational goal. Examples:
- Planting 2026
- Harvest 2026
- Planter readiness
Each Program contains work items your team schedules, assigns, and completes. A Program is not a job itself. It is the container that shows how far along you are and what is still blocking progress.
What you see vs what FarmFusion tracks
When you plan Plant North 40, you usually think about one field job. FarmFusion also connects that job to:
- The Program it supports (for example Planting 2026)
- The kind of work (planting, maintenance, supplies)
- The parcel and season plan it came from
You do not need to fill out a long classification form. FarmFusion infers most of that from where you started.
Programs and work items

Programs show:
- How many fields or acres are complete
- What is blocked (for example seed not received, planter service overdue)
- What work is scheduled next
Individual work items still have their own status, assignee, and due dates on Work and Wallboard.
How Programs connect planning and daily work
- Build your season in Planning and lock the crop program when leadership approves.
- FarmFusion creates field work items for each planned parcel.
- Readiness jobs (maintenance, supplies) can attach to the same Program and block field work until they are done.
- Operators complete jobs and log acres or hours on each work item.
- The Program progress updates automatically from completed work.
Planning, maintenance, inventory, incidents, and work logs all feed the same work list. Programs give you a seasonal lens without separate task systems.
Where to find Programs
- Planning — Program cards for the crop year with progress and blockers
- Work — filter or chip by Program when reviewing all farm jobs
- Today — urgent and blocked items may show which Program they affect
- Parcel, Asset, and Inventory detail views — related work rows show the Program breadcrumb when season context applies
Adding work to a Program
When you choose Add work from a Program page, FarmFusion pre-fills that Program on the new work item.
You can also:
- pick a Program manually in the Add work form
- leave one-off jobs outside any Program
- change the Program later on the open work item ticket
Use the progress checkbox when a job should stay linked to a Program but should not advance completion on its own.
Common questions
Do I have to put every job in a Program? No. General tasks and one-off incidents can stay standalone. Seasonal field work from Planning is grouped automatically.
Can one job belong to two Programs? Not at launch. A work item has one primary Program when season context applies.
How is progress calculated? FarmFusion counts completed primary field work and logged acres. Supporting jobs (service, seed delivery) affect readiness and blockers but do not inflate acreage progress.
